Beautiful May in the Desert-

May is a beautiful month in the high desert of northern Nevada. It is a great time to be out hiking, before the intense heat of the summer is upon us. It is also a time to be on the lookout for reptiles: horned toads, lizards of all kinds and of course snakes. We have two common snakes seen here in the desert- the gopher snake or bull snake, and the rattlesnake.

Please just leave them alone and remember this is there home too. The rattlesnake is very shy and will not bother you unless provoked.
